FAQ
Quotes & scheduling
How often should a Tampa lawn be mowed?
Weekly during the warm, rainy months, when St. Augustine and Bermuda grow fastest. Every other week usually works from late fall through winter.
Do you work with HOAs and property managers?
Yes. We maintain entrances, common areas and multifamily properties on a set schedule. See commercial & HOA landscaping.
What does a quote cost?
Nothing. We walk the property and give you a written price before any work starts.
Can you check my sprinklers on the same visit?
Yes. Note it on the quote form and we'll look at the system during the walk-through.
How long have you been in business?
Our crews come from Crowder's Landscaping, a family-owned company that has served Tampa Bay since 2003.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Work is done under Crowder's Landscaping, Florida state license #97852, with UF-BMP certification #GV909985-1.
FAQ
Lawn care
Should I mow weekly or every other week?
Weekly from spring through fall, when Tampa grass grows fastest. Many lawns can move to every other week in winter.
What kind of grass do I have?
We identify it on the quote visit and set the mowing height to match.
When do you fertilize?
We schedule fertilizer around Tampa and Hillsborough County's summer restrictions on nitrogen and phosphorus.
FAQ
Irrigation & drainage
Can you set my controller to my watering days?
Yes. We program it for the days assigned to your address and adjust run times by season.
Do you work on HOA and commercial systems?
Yes, from single homes to community systems with many zones.
Can you add zones or move heads after new landscaping?
Yes. New beds and sod usually need heads moved or added so coverage matches.
How often should my irrigation be checked?
At least twice a year: once before the dry season and again before the rainy season.
How do I know if I need a French drain?
If water collects in the same spot after every rain and regrading won't move it, a French drain usually will. We'll check on the quote visit.
Will drainage work tear up my lawn?
Trenches are backfilled and restored with sod or mulch when the work is done.
FAQ
Trees, clearing & storms
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Tampa?
Often, for protected and grand trees such as large live oaks. We'll flag it on the quote visit, and the City of Tampa makes the final call.
How often should palms be trimmed?
Usually once or twice a year, removing dead fronds and seed pods without stripping the green ones.
Do you clean up after storms?
Yes. See hurricane prep & storm cleanup.
When is the best time to trim trees?
Late winter to early spring for most trees. Hurricane prep and storm damage get handled whenever they come up.
Do I need a permit to clear land?
Sometimes, depending on the property and the trees on it. We'll point out anything that may need a permit from the City of Tampa or Hillsborough County.
What happens to the mulch?
It stays on site as ground cover and breaks down over time.
When should I schedule pre-storm tree work?
Before June 1, when hurricane season starts. Crews book up fast once a storm is forecast.
Do you handle HOA and commercial storm cleanup?
Yes, from single homes to full communities.
Is storm cleanup part of my maintenance contract?
No. Storm cleanup is billed separately from regular maintenance, so you only pay for it when you need it.
FAQ
Commercial & HOA
Do you bid HOA maintenance contracts?
Yes. We walk the property and send a written scope and price your board can review.
Can you handle storm prep and cleanup?
Yes. See hurricane prep & storm cleanup.
Do you service irrigation on commercial properties?
Yes, from small retail sites to community systems with many zones.
How often will the property be serviced?
On a schedule built for the property: weekly, every other week, monthly or seasonal.
FAQ
Design, lighting & new builds
When is the best time to plant in Tampa?
Sod and most plants can go in most of the year. Spring through early summer gives roots the longest warm, wet run to get established.
Do you use Florida-friendly plants?
Yes. Native and Florida-friendly plants need less water and fertilizer once established.
Can you work within my HOA's landscape rules?
Yes. Share the guidelines and we'll design within them.
Can you fix lighting someone else installed?
Yes. Dead fixtures, broken wires and failed transformers are common repairs.
Does LED landscape lighting cost much to run?
Low-voltage LED fixtures draw little power compared with older halogen lights.
Do you light HOA entrances and business signs?
Yes. See commercial & HOA landscaping.
Can you work from our landscape architect's plans?
Yes. We install to the approved plan and flag anything that needs a change before ordering.
Do you install the irrigation too?
Yes. Irrigation and landscape go in under one scope so coverage matches the plantings.
